Flowers and Plants: Health and Wellness Benefits

It’s a brand new week, which means brand new arrangements for home and work space.  This weekend was mostly spent gardening and re-potting some plants, but there’s just something really amazing having fresh flowers around.  Flowers add an aesthetic bonus to any space; but, did you know that having flowers around also enhance our wellbeing? I’ve summarized some of the benefits, listed below. As you read, please virtually enjoy this gorgeous purple [bouquet] arrangement I made.

Flowers and Wellbeing: The Benefits of Flowers to our Health and Wellness

It’s a brand new week, which means brand new arrangements for home and work space.  This weekend was mostly spent gardening and repotting some plants, but there’s just something really amazing having fresh flowers around.  Flowers add an aesthetic bonus to any space; but, did you know that having flowers around also enhance our wellbeing? I’ve summarized some of the benefits, listed below. As you read, please virtually enjoy this gorgeous purple [bouquet] arrangement I made.

Certain types of potted plants remove some pollutants from any room space,
whether it's in the office, at home, or even a hospital room.

Placing plants and flowers in a room increases humidity, which reduces some of the
effects of dry air such as common colds.

Rooms and offices decorated with plants and flowers help reduce stress,
as measured by decreased blood pressure and pulse rates.

Flowers restore people from mental fatigue.

Walking in a garden improve patients’ ability to focus on tasks and
significantly lower stress levels, most especially for patients with breast cancer.

Patients who viewed plants from their hospital windows had shorter
hospital stays and took fewer pain medication.

People communicate better when flowers or plants are around.

People eat food slower when flowers are on the table.

Flowers enhance self-esteem.
